Fort Pierce, FL; February 28, 2011

Link to anchorage near Fort Pierce via Google Maps

This is where we anchored in Stuart and spent a quiet weekend.

It's legal to anchor anywhere that is safe from underwater cables or pipes. You can tell that by looking at your nautical charts. You also have to watch your depth and take into account tide tables.

WHICH WAY TO GO??

Leaving the Okeechobee Waterway into the St Lucie Inlet, you have your choice of direction. You can take the inlet out to the Atlantic Ocean or join the Intracoastal Waterway. The ICW is a significant portion of the Great Loop. We turned left and headed north.

Looking off starboard (toward the Atlantic) on the ICW
Width of the waterway is about 2 miles
