Relaxing day of winding rivers with temps in the mid 70's

Even the birds were standing around taking it easy

We are about 1/4 of the way up the coastline of South Carolina.

Travel today saw a mix of dark clouds with cold wind or warm mostly sunny sky's. We kept taking our jackets on and off all day.

Lady's Island swing bridge

The height of this bridge was at our limit, but with the low tide we were going to try to make it without putting the mast down or waiting an hour for the next opening.

Even though the depth sign said we would have room, it felt really close when we went under the bridge.

Cool schooner

This must be fun because we see a lot of kayak's

This dolphin was next to the boat when we raised the anchor this morning

12 river miles into South Carolina; March 22, 2011

Link to anchorage on Bryan Creek, South Carolina via Google Maps

Hello South Carolina !

Leaving Georgia northbound, the border to South Carolina is half way across the Savannah River.

Captain charts our course the night before and then we use this chart plotter as one way to find our way.

Top row:
Speed / ETA / Actual heading

Second row:
Distance to next plotted way point / L or R correction to plotted course / heading to next way point

Bottom left: Depth

This is where we are anchored tonight.
Smelling the pine trees has a familiar comfort.

Things I took pictures of today:
Big tug
A Research Vessel
Cargo boat
Police boats....2 by 2
Short day planned tomorrow due to high winds predicted.

Anniversary! One year living aboard!
On the Loop: 2 months, 3 days
Traveled: 1041 miles

A front moved through Sunday, so we stayed an extra night anchored within the shelter of St. Catherines Island. The winds were 15-20 with gusts to 30.

This morning the water was cluttered with sticks that looked like they came from the mashes. Our anchor line had a substantial clump forming a V about 2 feet deep and about 8 feet long on each side.

Captain used the boat hook to free the anchor line.

Things we saw today:
Shrimp boat
Tug boat
Sunken boat
High and Dry
A stretch of river had osprey nesting on almost every marker

Couldn't figure out what that black spot was

Big eagle

Hope everyone got to see the big super moon
