Link to our anchorage on the border of the Carolina's via Google Maps

The State flag of South Carolina has a Palmetto tree on it.
This Palm tree, with pretty fan leaves, can survive cold temps, salt water, hurricanes
and you can even eat parts of it! cool!

Nice houses going through Myrtle Beach - note the Palmetto Palms

Purple Wisteria were blooming and the fragrance was strong and smelled nice
We wondered if we were heading north to soon, but spring is sprung and the colors are beautiful.

This tall grass caught our eye

Over - head cable cars

Condos around Myrtle Beach

Wonder if the inside it purple?

Last night in South Carolina -
it made the list for a place we would like to come back and visit

Enjoyed seeing a lot more trees today.

This hitchhiker found a comfy seat on our BBQ in exchange for a pretty song.

Had to give a wide berth to this US Army Corp of Army Engineer boat as the channel wasn't very wide.
We think it was maintaining the markers.

Tomorrow will be a short day as we will move on to a marina.

Rainy day at Mt Pleasant anchorage; March 28, 2011

Captain wearing a jacket and cap . . . . .  it must be cold !
We stayed anchored near Mt Pleasant, SC and it rained most of the day.
Really glad we added the 2" of insulation during construction.

Link to anchorage east of Mt Pleasant, SC via Google Maps

We woke to rain this morning, but it stopped before we finished coffee.
The clouds looked threatening all day - temps were in the 70's.
It was a nice change from sun screen.

This is a picture of where we are anchored tonight.
Well off the channel on a narrow cut surrounded by marshes.
We enjoy the solitude.

We are currently north of Charleston

Charleston from the water

Houses line the waterfront

Coast Guard Station in Charleston Harbor

Big ship keeping the Coast Guard busy

Pelican's best friend

Gaff rigged schooner

Schooner going out to sea

We passed by Fort Sumter where the first battle of the Civil War took place

We may stay parked tomorrow if the forecast is right . . . . . sounds like cold weather is on the way.
