Trent - Severn Waterway; July 12, 2011

Lock 13 - Campellford; Lift: 23 Feet
Tied up on the port side in this lock.
The lock-master's job looks easy, but he walks about 11 miles a day
just opening and closing the gates.

Lock 14 - Crowe Bay; Lift: 26 Feet
Campbellford Hydro Generating Station is on the right

Friendly Canadian "cousins" and hydro operators came to have a look
This is what they were looking at, eh?

Houses along the river are referred to as cottages

Lock 15 - Healey Falls; Lift: 22 Feet
Tie up was on port side again - lock gymnastics with climbing
back and forth over the masts today

Top of Lock 15

Flight Lock 16 and 17 was just around the corner
Lift: 27 feet divided in two sections for a total of 54 feet

It was very windy with a lot of turbulence in the lock

At the top of a 76 foot rise in a 1/2 mile

Seymour Lake with lots of islands - Beautiful

Trent River

Narrow channel is marked by "cribs" used by loggers of long ago
to control the logs on the way downstream
Waiting in Hasting, Ontario for the last lock of the day

Lock 18 - Hastings; Lift: 9 feet
