Mackinac Island and Bridge; August 12, 2011

Leaving anchorage for our last travel day on Lake Huron

We were anchored on the other side of this lake

Mackinac Island from a distance.
A Michigan tourist trap in Lake Huron.

Travel on the island is by bike or horse-drawn carriages

If you want their fudge, you have to take a ferry

High-speed catamaran + Lollygag = horn toot

Different ferry's were zooming in all directions!
It was crazy - their wakes make us feel like we were in a wash-machine.

Over 15,000 people visit every day in the summer

The "rooster-tails" were as big as the boats

Light house as we were leaving the island

Ferry free-way

Strip of water that connects Lake Huron with Lake Michigan
and separates Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas'

Mackinac Bridge

Crossing the imaginary line

Gaff rigged schooner - Nice
