Cape May, NJ; May 20, 2011

Cape May harbor and our home for the night

Traveled the second half of Delaware Bay today.
The seas had gentle 1-2 foot swells. We were glad we waited out the weather. Just a few days ago, the seas were 3-5 feet. Sky's were sunny and the day warmed up nicely.
We entered Cape May Canal for the last 3 miles of todays travel to Cape May Harbor where we anchored.
Trivia: Cape May Canal was constructed during World War II to provide protection from German U-boats and reduce risk of attack from German submarines . . . . Whoa . . wouldn't have guessed that!

Leaving Delaware Bay and turning into Cape May Canal

Ferry from Cape May, NJ to Lewes, DE

Watched this trawling operation on the Bay pull their nets.

Tourism is big business here
